Henry settles the debate: Zidane is the next France coach after Deschamps

Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Henry hinted that Zinedine Zidane is the most prominent candidate to succeed Didier Deschamps at the helm of the French national team's technical staff.

When asked if he was considering running for this position after Deschamps' departure following the 2026 World Cup, Henry replied: "I don't know what to say, we all know who the new coach will be, you know, and I know, and I wish him luck."

The Spanish newspaper added that these words align with the rumors that have been circulating in the French press for some time. According to reports, there is near-unanimous agreement within the corridors of the French Football Federation that Zidane will be at the helm of Les Bleus after the 2026 World Cup.

A close friend of the former Real Madrid coach also confirmed to the newspaper that Zidane knows everything and is well aware of the players' desire to work under his leadership, even though the French Federation is still handling the file cautiously. Philippe Diallo, the federation's president, stated that it is still too early to make any decision, but he indicated that they will be ready when the time comes.

It concluded by stating that if the matter is finally confirmed, Zinedine Zidane will return to coaching after five years since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021.
